Website aims to help parents establish teen driving expectations

Ann Arbor, MI – A new website aims to teach parents how to train their teens to be safe drivers and establish boundaries.

The site, presented by the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute and the Michigan Department of Community Health, offers advice for parents on where and when their teens can drive independently or with a parent, including on wet and snowy roads.

Parents can complete an interactive driving agreement that they can update as their teen gains experience. They will be prompted to revisit the agreement at preset intervals, and can choose to expand their teen’s driving privileges.
