Federal agencies to meet on performance-based regulatory model for oil and gas industry

Washington – Several federal agencies, including OSHA, will host an upcoming stakeholder meeting on the prospect of using and implementing a performance-based model in agencies’ regulatory approach to the oil and gas industry.

A performance-based model focuses more on an outcome than on the means to that outcome.

In addition to OSHA, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, U.S. Coast Guard, Environmental Protection Agency, and Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration are interested in stakeholder feedback on using such a model for the oil and gas industry.
