Washington – The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration announced (.pdf file) a public listening session in late April to solicit comments on electronic onboard recorders and driver harassment.
FMCSA said it has been receiving complaints from commercial motor vehicle drivers that their hours-of-service compliance has been excessively monitored by both their carriers and enforcement personnel.
The session is scheduled to take place April 26 at the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance meeting in Bellevue, WA. The agency wants to gather comments on how it should differentiate between productivity and harassment, ways to prevent harassment from occurring, and how EOBRs can be used to increase or prevent the harassment.
The listening session will be streamed via webcast and will allow for email participation, FMCSA said. Streaming instructions will be released on the agency’s website before the session.
