NHTSA: Traffic-related deaths increased in 2012

Washington – Traffic-related deaths increased 3.3 percent in 2012 from 2011 – the first annual increase since 2005 – according to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Washington – The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration has extended the comment period on a proposal to enhance the safety and durability of rail tank cars used to transport hazardous materials.

BLS: Nonfatal injuries, illnesses resume downward trend

Washington – The rate of nonfatal worker injuries and illnesses declined in 2012 from the previous year, resuming a recent downward trend, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ 2012 survey of occupational injuries and illnesses, released Nov. 7.
