Fall officially begins Saturday, but we’re still waiting for the White House to publish its spring 2012 regulatory agenda.
Twice a year, the government publishes a Unified Agenda outlining federal agencies’ planned and completed regulatory activities. It details numerous deadlines and tentative dates for meetings or notices of proposed rulemaking.
These deadlines often are not met. Even still, the agenda is important. It tells us what the agency will be working on, where rules are in the promulgation process and where they are expected to be in the near future, and what proposals have been placed on the back burner.
This isn’t the first time the agenda’s public release has been delayed under the Obama administration, either – the fall 2011 agenda was issued Jan. 20, 2012.
I’ve contacted the White House’s Office of Management and Budget – which is supposed to publicly publish the agenda every spring and fall – asking when the spring agenda will be published, if ever. I’ll let you know what they have to say as soon as I hear back.
