Washington – A direct final rule revising OSHA’s Acetylene Standard (1910.102) went into effect (.pdf file) March 5 following no “significant” objections to the changes, according to the agency.
The direct final rule (.pdf file) – first issued Dec. 5, 2011 – incorporates requirements found in the most recent Compressed Gas Association consensus standard, CGA G-1-2009.
This is the second time the OSHA standard has been updated in the past three years. Previously, OSHA’s update included references to an older consensus standard, CGA G-1-2003, as the 2009 edition was not available to the agency at the time. Comments OSHA later received on the standard suggested the agency incorporate references to the 2009 edition.
