If you have a great idea on how to spread workplace safety information via employees’ and employers’ cell phones and tablets, now’s the time to do it.
For OSHA’s Worker Safety and Health App Challenge, the agency is seeking applications that educate the public about safety in the workplace.
The contest originally was scheduled to end Sept. 16, but the deadline to submit an app has been extended to Nov. 30. To incentivize developers, the Department of Labor is offering $30,000 total in prize money for stand-out apps in four categories. The grand prize includes a meet and greet with Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis.
If you’re not tech-savvy, you can still participate by voting on submissions for the “People’s Choice Award.”
Judging and public voting runs through Dec. 7, and winners are scheduled to be announced Dec. 18.
