Phone app provides bus company safety records

Washington – The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration on March 20 released its SaferBus iPhone and iPad application to provide the public with quick access to the safety records of a bus or motorcoach company.

The mobile app grants access to about 24 months of safety performance records on unsafe driving, fatigued driving, driver fitness, controlled substances/alcohol and vehicle maintenance for almost 6,000 motorcoach, school bus and tour bus companies, according to an FMCSA press release. The app also shows if a business is an illegal company operating without federal authority or has failed to comply with federal insurance requirements, FMCSA said.
