Lowell, MA — Researchers from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell are asking painters and allied trades workers who’ve been exposed to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances on the job to complete an anonymous survey.
With support from CPWR – The Center for Construction Research and Training, the group is investigating how PFAS affect worker health for a study focused on limiting chemical exposures and health risks in construction.
PFAS are also known as “forever chemicals” because they break down slowly over time. The substances are used in paints, adhesives, glues and other construction materials.
The survey questions explore “work history, products used at work, health symptoms and diagnosed diseases,” a note from the researchers says.
The survey takes around 15-30 minutes to complete.
