San Diego — Megan Tranter is the recipient of the 2019 Marion Martin Award, presented annually by the National Safety Council Women’s Caucus. Tranter was presented the award Monday during the Opening Session of the NSC 2019 Congress & Expo.

San Diego — Dropped objects on a worksite create a multitude of costs. In 2016, dropped objects resulted in 255 worker fatalities, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The issue is one of OSHA’s “Fatal Four” causes of construction deaths, accounting for 9.4% of fatal injuries in the industry.

San Diego — Jack Jackson’s friend was among four people killed in a workplace shooting in July 2003 in Jefferson City, Mo. “If you had asked me just the day before, ‘Would this ever happen here (in my community)?’ I would have told you, ‘No way!’”
