Mold exposure can have serious health consequences.

If you’ve ever come in contact with poison ivy, you know how unpleasant it can be. And for many outdoor workers, poisonous plants are a common hazard.

Working outdoors is an inevitable part of the job for many people across the country. And when the temperatures drop, it is important that workers wear appropriate protective clothing.

Although less common than it used to be, lead exposure still occurs at work.

Mold can grow virtually anywhere and generally is not a problem. However, issues arise when mold grows indoors.

Silicosis is a disabling, deadly and incurable lung disease. It often is caused by breathing in the dust of crystalline silica, which can be found in concrete, sandstone, rock, paint and other abrasives, according to NIOSH. Known for its strength and chemical and heat resistance, asbestos is a natural fibrous mineral that can have devastating effects on workers if proper precautions are not taken, states the Workers’ Compensation Board of British Columbia.

Anyone working outdoors is at risk of exposure to poisonous plants, including poison ivy, poison oak and poison sumac.
