CSB to release Deepwater Horizon reports in June

Washington – The Chemical Safety Board is scheduled to release the first half of its investigation reports into the Deepwater Horizon explosion at a June 5 public meeting in Houston.

The first two volumes of CSB’s four-volume report will focus on technical, regulatory and organizational issues, according to a CSB press release.

The third volume, expected later this year, will focus on the regulator’s role in the oversight of the offshore industry. The fourth volume will cover organizational and cultural factors that contributed to the disaster.

Eleven workers were killed April 20, 2010, when the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico and unleashed millions of barrels of oil into the water.
