BLS issues corrected injury and illness data

Washington – The Bureau of Labor Statistics on Nov. 14 released injury and illness data for 2011 and 2012 to correct previously disclosed data processing errors.

The errors were limited to national-level estimates for private-sector industries for those two years.

The overall private-industry injury and illness rate in 2012 stayed the same as the previously released figure of 3.4 cases per 100 full-time workers. However, the corrected data lowered the 2011 rate to 3.4. The rate was 3.5 prior to the correction.

The data processing errors have delayed BLS’s release of 2013 injury and illness data. That data is now expected to be released in December.
