Park Ridge, IL – The Center for Safety and Health Sustainability has released a guide with metrics and best practices for sustainability reporting in occupational health and safety.
The guide is part of an initiative by CSHS to improve occupational health and safety performance by standardizing OSH reporting at organizations around the world.
Several organizations already use at least some form of the metrics, which were created by some of “the largest occupational health and safety professional bodies,” according to a CSHS press release. The metrics can be applied to small, medium and large establishments; temporary and contract workers; and workers for suppliers in developing countries.
The guide is split into two parts: “Essential Elements,” which promote analyzing and comparing organizations; and “Optional Elements,” which are recommendations rather than requirements.
“Investors and other key stakeholders are demanding more transparency, which translates to higher expectations for reporting on corporate performance, including materiality,” CSHS Chair Kathy A. Seabrook said in the release. “This presents important implications for OHS performance reporting.”
