MSHA awards $250K in safety training grants

Arlington, VA — The Mine Safety and Health Administration has awarded $250,000 in safety training grants to four organizations as part of its Brookwood-Sago Mine Safety Grants Program, the agency announced Sept. 28.

With the funding, the organizations will establish and initiate education and training programs designed to recognize and mitigate safety and health hazards in and around mines, an MSHA press release states.

Individual grants range from $50,000 to $97,853.50. The recipients are:

  • United Mine Workers of America Career Centers Inc., Prosperity, PA.
  • Pennsylvania State University, State College, PA.
  • West Virginia University Research Corp., Morgantown, WV.
  • Rend Lake College, Ina, IL.
