Chemical Safety Board announces appointment of senior advisor

Washington — Bruce Walker is now a senior advisor to the Chemical Safety Board.

According to a Nov. 17 press release, Walker will work in policy and outreach in support of Katherine Lemos, CSB’s chair, CEO and lone board member. Walker has served in various leadership roles within the aerospace and defense industry, with a primary focus on government relations and homeland security.

“I’m excited to answer the call to serve,” Walker said in the release. “Safe operations of the facilities and industries within CSB’s purview are critical to the safety of people and the environment.”

Lemos added that Walker “brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and relationships directly relevant to the CSB’s mission.”

Frequently facing questions about its future and consistently a target for elimination under the Trump administration, the agency has operated with only one of its five board seats filled since May 1, when Kristen Kulinowski stepped down three months before her five-year term was scheduled to expire.
