OSHA seeking input on proposed update to hazard communication regs

Washington — OSHA has scheduled an informal public hearing for Sept. 21 on proposed updates to the agency’s regulations on hazard communication.

On Feb. 16, OSHA issued a proposed rule to update the regulations to align with the seventh version of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals. The Hazard Communication Standard (1910.1200) is currently aligned with the third revision of GHS.

According to a notice published in the May 20 Federal Register, the virtual hearing will begin at 10 a.m. Eastern and, if necessary, will continue on subsequent days. Anyone wanting to testify or question witnesses during the hearing must submit their notice electronically by June 18.
