December marks my 22nd year with Safety+Health. It’s a reminder that I’m privileged to work on a publication that serves the occupational safety and health community. I’m also fortunate and proud to work with a great team.
I don’t know if it’s a Midwest thing or just this particular group of people, but we’re not super-comfortable tooting our own horn. But when S+H Publisher Deborah Meyer encouraged me to submit S+H content for a publishing industry award, we decided to go big.
That’s why I’m delighted to announce that S+H has won a 2022 Folio: Eddie Award, described by its organizers as “the most prestigious recognition program in the publishing community, recognizing excellence in editorial content and design across print and digital media. … As one of the broadest and longest-running competitions for editors and designers for nearly 30 years strong, winning an Eddie or Ozzie comes with the added honor of being judged exceptional by one’s own peers – all of whom are experts in journalism or design.”
This year’s winners include well-known publications such as AARP Bulletin, Better Homes & Gardens, CNET, Consumer Reports, Forbes, Harvard Business Review, National Geographic, Parents, Real Simple and Variety.
It’s a big deal for us. For allowing me to be part of it, I thank Deborah; Senior Managing Editor Jennifer Yario; Associate Editors Barry Bottino, Kevin Druley and Alan Ferguson; Copy Editor Paul Wleklinski; Senior Graphic Designer Mike Sharkey; Online Content Manager Amy Bellinger; Production Coordinator Joy Tan-Pipilas; Publications Specialist Jeanne Nallon; Advertising Coordinator Isidora Hernandez; and Advertising Sales Manager Karen Lord.
And my heartfelt thanks to all of you for reading S+H – and for the important work you do. You inspire us.
