What encourages workers to wear
the eye protection you’re providing
them?
“The key to compliance,” said Tina
Perales, national product sales manager
for Honeywell, “is comfort and style.
“If the safety glass is comfortable,
there’s no need for the employee to
remove the glasses, increasing compliance
and reducing the risk of injury.”
The same goes for style. “If they look
good and fit well, your employee will
wear them.”
Perales said protective eyewear has
“evolved to include spectacles, sealed
eye wear, goggles, faceshields and
lenses designed for all environments.”
Performing a workplace audit is a
must, she added. “One size doesn’t fit
all. Uncover the true hazard, and supply
eyewear specific to your environment.”
For employers who want to standardize
their eye protection offerings, she recommends
investing in a better-quality eyewear
that includes adjustable features.
