Washington — OSHA has scheduled a virtual public hearing ahead of the 48th session of the United Nations Sub-Committee of Experts on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals.
In addition to establishing pictograms to help facilitate the safe handling, transport and use of chemicals among people of different nationalities and literacy levels, the GHS “also provides a basis for harmonization of rules and regulations on chemicals at national, regional and worldwide levels, an important factor also for trade facilitation.”
The agency will use the comments gathered from the June 24 hearing, scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern, to develop the U.S. government’s positions for the UN meeting – set for July 7-9 in Geneva, Switzerland.
Interested parties can register for the hearing via email.
The deadline to submit comments on the working and informal papers for the UN meeting is July 7.
