July Fourth fireworks are beautiful to see. But for the workers who manufacture, sell and set them off, fireworks can also be dangerous.
In 2012, three workers were seriously burned by an explosion at a Missouri fireworks company, which OSHA later fined more than $100,000 for safety violations related to explosive hazards.
As July Fourth approaches, OSHA issued a reminder to the fireworks industry to be safe in the manufacture, storage, transport, and display and selling of fireworks. Workers who handle fireworks should keep an eye out for hazards and take the appropriate precautions to ensure July Fifth is just as lively as July Fourth.
