Washington — Honeywell Safety Products has issued a voluntary recall of nonsterile eyewash cartridges after a supplier was found to be noncompliant with current good manufacturing practice regulations.
According to an April 5 notice from the Food and Drug Administration, the recall involves the Fendall 2000 Non-Sterile Eyewash Cartridge, used in the Fendall 2000 Eyewash Station. The cartridge is used for flushing or irrigating the eye to reduce injury risks caused by acid, alkali or particulate contamination.
Although Honeywell hasn’t received any adverse event reports, FDA cautions that use of or exposure to the product without seeking medical attention afterward could result in a range of eye infections.
The product is contained in a 25-liter ethylene-vinyl acetate bag.
Customers, distributors and/or retailers who have the cartridges should stop selling, shipping, and using the product immediately and destroy or dispose of it.
