Roco Rescue Inc., headquartered in Baton Rouge, LA, recently appointed Chris Carlsen as its new director of training. A graduate of the National Fire Academy’s special operations program management course, Carlsen spent more than 20 years as a municipal firefighter with Albuquerque (NM) Fire Rescue. There, he served as the fire suppression training instructor and program manager for technical rescue. He holds a Society of Profession Rope Access Technicians Level II certification and is an International Technical Rescue Association-qualified instructor and assessor. He has worked part time with Roco Rescue since 2004, first as a standby rescue team member, and later as an instructor. He was promoted to chief instructor in 2012 and has served in that role for the past eight years.
