MSHA offering $400K in safety grants

UPDATE: The deadline for applications has been extended to June 28, the Mine Safety and Health Administration announced in the May 25 Federal Register.

Arlington, VA — The Mine Safety and Health Administration is accepting applications for its Brookwood-Sago Mine Safety Grants Program.

MSHA will provide up to $400,000 in grant funding for states, territories, and private and public nonprofit organizations to develop “education and training programs to help identify, avoid, and prevent unsafe working conditions in and around mines,” according to a notice published in the March 25 Federal Register.

As many as eight grants could be awarded, with individual grants ranging from $50,000 to $400,000.

The deadline for applications is May 24. The grants are scheduled to be awarded on or before Sept. 30.
