When you’re behind the wheel, safety should take priority over a call or text from a family member. That’s the message of a recent blog post from National Safety Council President and CEO Deborah A.P. Hersman, written in recognition of Distracted Driving Awareness Month. In her post, part of NSC’s “Safety First” blog, Hersman offers suggestions for reducing driver distraction – including turning off your phone’s ringtone and text message alerts before driving, or asking passengers to answer calls or texts for you – and points to numerous resources that can help you “Take Back Your Drive.”
