Arlington, TX – OSHA and several health service providers will be participating in a free symposium March 12 in Texas on Ebola protection for hospital workers and first responders.
Taking place at the University of Texas at Arlington, the Ebola and Infectious Disease Symposium is scheduled to feature experts who will review federal regulations, demonstrate new methods of using personal protective equipment and explain how Dallas/Fort Worth local governments will respond to patients with infectious diseases.
Two Dallas health care workers contracted Ebola in the fall of 2014 while treating an infected patient who had traveled from Liberia. The patient later died, but both health care workers recovered.
The West African countries of Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone are facing the largest Ebola outbreak in history. The virus has killed nearly 10,000 people to date.
