CDC’s ‘Million Hearts’ campaign offers healthy recipes

Atlanta – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Million Hearts initiative has launched an online resource center that includes lower-sodium, heart-healthy recipes and meal plans.

The resource center was developed in partnership with CDC and EatingWell magazine. It allows users to browse recipes by prep time, cuisine, course and number of servings.

Every recipe comes with nutritional information and supports Million Hearts’ goal of preventing 1 million heart attacks and strokes by 2017. About 11 million cases of high blood pressure could be prevented if everyone limited their daily sodium intake to 2,300 milligrams, CDC Director Tom Frieden said in a press release.
