Washington – OSHA would receive a $5 million funding increase for fiscal year 2015 under a budget approved June 10 by a Senate subcommittee.
The Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Subcommittee approved the bill in a voice vote to fund OSHA at $557.4 million for the coming fiscal year, but the amount falls short of the administration’s $565 million request.
Whistleblower protections, one of the administration’s top priorities, would receive an increase of only $1 million. OSHA had requested $4 million.

The full Senate Appropriations Committee originally was set to take up the appropriations bill on June 12, but the meeting was postponed. A new date had not been scheduled as of press time.
