Workers say employers care about their health but offer few resources: survey

East Greenwich, RI – Although 2 out of 3 employees believe their employer cares about their health, many say they are not supplied with resources to support health-improvement efforts, according to a new survey.

The online survey, conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of health management services provider Provant, included 2,130 adults in the United States. Of those, 923 were employed full or part time. Workers were asked which programs their employer provides to support healthy habits, including health advocacy programs, reimbursement for fitness classes and health coaches. The most common program – a company-run health or wellness program – was reported by only 22 percent, followed by healthy food options in the kitchen or cafeteria (21 percent).

One-quarter of respondents said their employer provides none of the programs.
