ATA calls for CSA changes

Arlington, VA – The American Trucking Associations recently called for adjustments to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability program’s Safety Measurement System.

ATA commented (.pdf file) that the system should take into account if a commercial motor vehicle crash was non-preventable or the CMV operator was not at fault. The association also requested FMCSA to ensure a new category on the safety impact of hazardous materials be implemented only if it is determined to be related to future crash risk.

ATA said it supported FMCSA’s decision to request input on changes to CSA rather than make changes without prior announcement, as it previously did.
