NHTSA announces public hearing on electronic stability control

Washington – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is scheduled to host a hearing July 24 on a recent notice of proposed rulemaking (.pdf file) that would mandate the installation of electronic stability control devices in all large commercial motor vehicles. ESC technology aims to help prevent large truck rollovers by electronically stabilizing the vehicle when the driver loses steering control.

The hearing will take place in Washington at 10 a.m. EST. Comments on the NPRM are due Aug. 21.
