Washington – In 2010, 4,690 workers died on the job in the United States, according to final data (.pdf file) released April 25 by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
That figure is up slightly from the preliminary count of 4,547, but represents the second lowest annual total (.pdf file) since the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries began in 1992.
BLS said the revised total pushed the fatality rate up slightly to 3.6 from 3.5 fatal work injuries per 100,000 full-time equivalent workers.
