Santa Monica, CA – A special issue of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society journal Ergonomics in Design pulls together assorted research on new technologies, educational programs and policies addressing driver distraction.
The research is divided into three topics: the science on distracted driving, applying research to mitigating distraction and outreach. Key research papers in the issue include studies on visual and cognitive distractions in a vehicle, using incident data to develop prevention policies, and the effectiveness of using in-vehicle and behavioral “countermeasure” technologies to mitigate crashes.
According to guest editors Linda S. Angell and John D. Lee, the collected research integrates research with practice and builds a “more complete picture of distraction.” The special issue is free to the public until March 31.
