Washington – Up to $1 million in grant funding is available for communities and nonprofit organizations to make pipeline safety improvements, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration announced Jan. 7.
According to a press release, the Technical Assistant Grants program provides funding for engineering and scientific analysis of natural gas and hazardous liquid pipeline safety, as well as public education about pipeline safety and environmental protection. Each grantee may receive up to $50,000. PHMSA, which provides support to TAG recipients throughout the process, requires each recipient to provide a report to the agency within one year demonstrating completion of the work as outlined in a grant agreement.
Applications for the grant funding are due Feb. 28 and will be awarded in September.
