MSHA solicits comment on safety and health management programs

The Mine Safety and Health Administration last week announced (.pdf file) three public meetings in October to gather information on safety and health management programs at mines. Model programs should be designed to prevent injuries and illnesses, comply with the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act, and include participation from everyone — including executives, workers and contractors, MSHA said.

The meetings are scheduled to take place in Arlington, VA; Pittsburgh; and Sacramento, CA. The deadline for comments is Dec. 17.
