April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month

The House on Tuesday passed a resolution that designates April as National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. House Resolution 1186 was introduced March 16 by Rep. Betsy Markey (D-CO).

In remarks before the House, Markey recounted the story of Erica Forney, a 9-year-old from Fort Collins, CO, who was struck and killed by a large SUV whose driver was talking on a cell phone. Erica’s mother, Shelley Forney, is a founding member of the nonprofit organization FocusDriven — Advocates for Cell-Free Driving.
