Fire council conducting survey on first responder risks

As part of an update to its 2004 “Emerging Health and Safety Issues in the Fire Service” study, the National Volunteer Fire Council has asked first responders to complete a survey to help identify new or changing safety and health issues confronting fire and emergency services personnel.

Survey results will help shape the second edition of the “Emerging Issues” study, which will address key findings, initiatives, programs and strategies to help reduce first responder fatalities, according to a press release from Greenbelt, MD-based NVFC. Findings also will be used to identify future efforts to keep emergency responders safe.

The confidential survey is open until May 1.
