With demand growing for disposable respirator masks amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Romeoville, IL-based Magid Glove & Safety Mfg. Co. LLC is warning that some masks on the market do not provide the protection that is promised. As a result, Magid is offering free quantitative respirator evaluations – an abbreviated test used to identify inadequate masks. If you have purchased a batch, you can send in a sample to be evaluated. The company notes, however, that because the testing process compromises the respirator, it will be unable to return the respirators submitted. This service is being offered to first responders; health care workers; federal, state and local municipalities; and companies seeking to protect their workers from airborne respiratory hazards. To learn more about the testing process, visit magidglove.com/mask-test.
