Now that electrical equipment maintenance has an industry standard in NFPA 70B, many companies are wondering how to get started in building out a compliant electrical maintenance program. As insurance providers put pressure for compliance with the standard, it can seem like an insurmountable mountain to begin to put the pieces together. Should you simply dig into manufacturer data and follow their recommendations from now on? Does NFPA 70B have a better solution? How will you know which area to focus on first? The list of unanswered questions goes on as far as the eye can see, but there’s a simple solution. It’s time to get familiar with what equipment you have and what condition it is in. This presentation will examine what it takes to get started moving in the right direction for compliance with NFPA 70B. We’ll discuss how to determine what maintenance tasks to perform, how often they must be done and how to assess your electrical system to understand why these items are so important to get right. By taking the first step, you’ll be making an important investment in improving the safety and reliability of your electrical system.
