Washington — The chair of the House Education and Workforce Committee is calling on the Department of Labor to withdraw OSHA’s proposed rule aimed at protecting workers from heat-related illnesses.
In a letter sent March 19 to recently confirmed Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI) also requests that DOL withdraw or rescind OSHA’s:
- Proposed rule on emergency response.
- Final rule on worker walkaround representation.
- Annual injury and illness data submission requirements.
“The committee recognizes that many burdensome regulations were developed at DOL during the Biden-Harris administration,” Walberg writes. “In your new role, I encourage you to consider the issues raised in this letter and to remain in proactive contact with the committee as other agenda items arise. I look forward to working with you and DOL during the 119th Congress.”
