Adrienne Camire is the new acting head of FMCSA

Washington — Adrienne Camire is the acting and deputy administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, after the Department of Transportation appointed her to the positions on March 7.

Camire, who served as chief counsel for the Federal Highway Administration during President Donald Trump’s first term, “will lead FMCSA’s efforts to advance commercial motor vehicle safety, improve the efficiency of the nation’s freight and passenger transportation systems, and restore commonsense principles to regulatory oversight,” the agency says.

In a press release, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy describes Camire as a “dedicated leader who brings executive experience, vision and a strong commitment to safety.”

Camire takes the positions after being named an FMCSA senior advisor in January. Her professional career includes more than two decades of legal, regulatory and compliance experience in the private sector and academia.

“Thank you to President Trump and Secretary Duffy for their confidence in me to serve in this role,” Camire said in the release. “I am honored to lead FMCSA in its mission to prevent commercial motor vehicle crashes, fatalities and injuries on our nation’s roads. I look forward to working closely with all stakeholders to advance our shared safety goals.”
