Washington — For the third consecutive congressional session, Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) is seeking to abolish OSHA.
The Nullify Occupational Safety and Health Administration Act, or NOSHA Act, (H.R. 86) has one line of text:
The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 is repealed. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is abolished.
The two previous bills never made it out of the House Education and Labor Committee or the renamed House Education and Workforce Committee, where H.R. 86 currently resides. The bill introduced during the 118th Congress had one co-sponsor, Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA); the current bill has zero co-sponsors.
“Bills with a tiny handful of co-sponsors don’t get hearings, much less a vote on the House floor,” wrote Jordan Barab, former OSHA deputy assistant secretary, on his Confined Space blog. “No one wants to waste their time.”
