Salem, OR — Oregon OSHA is encouraging employers statewide to “pause their operations and put a spotlight on the critical importance of building a culture of safety and health” during the agency’s 22nd annual Safety Break for Oregon.
Set for May 14, the safety stand-down is an opportunity for supervisors, employees and organizations in various industries to celebrate workplace safety and health achievements, as well as examine and discuss ways to protect people from harm on the job. Employers can host knowledge and training refresher courses, perform safety and health assessments, renew plans to minimize or eliminate workplace hazards, or recognize and acknowledge safety committee members and safety leaders.
Oregon OSHA, which operates as a State Plan program under federal OSHA, offers free educational resources on its website, along with activity ideas, logos and sample awards that employers can use during their events.
Employers who sign up by May 9 can win one of three $100 prizes for a luncheon of their choice during the event.
