Cast your vote: Oregon student safety video contest

The top seven videos in a contest to promote young worker safety in Oregon have been posted online for voting.

The contest theme was “Save a Friend. Work Safe.” Students had to create a 45-second public service announcement based on one of three categories: risks of practical jokes in the workplace, risks of repeated lifting and carrying, or benefits of being trained for every job task, according to a press release from the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services. The entries depict a kitchen accident, construction prank and a lifting request gone wrong, among other stories.

The top three finalists, who will be announced April 10, will receive cash prizes ranging from $300 to $500 and earn a matching amount for their school.
