DOT releases distracted driving summit agenda

Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood on Tuesday released the agenda (.pdf file) for the 2010 Distracted Driving Summit, scheduled for Sept. 21 in Washington.

The summit, which will be accessible through a live webcast, will run from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Eastern Time. LaHood, Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis, and Peter Appel, administrator of the Research and Innovative Technology Administration, are scheduled to give opening remarks. The summit also will feature leading transportation officials, safety advocates, law enforcement, industry representatives, researchers and victims affected by distraction-related crashes.

Attendees will address distracted driving-related challenges and identify opportunities for national efforts to prevent distracted driving. Key topics will include research, technology, policy, public outreach and best practices in enforcement.
