Some imported Chinese drywall has been reported to cause health problems and corroding metal components in homes. Research has determined that hydrogen sulfide in the drywall is the cause of the corrosion.
The guidance recommends homeowners remove all problem drywall from their homes and any possibly corroded components, such as gas service piping, fire sprinkler systems, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and electrical components and wiring.
