Members of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee will meet Dec. 6-8 in Alexandria, VA, to discuss best practices for fatigue management programs for commercial motor vehicle drivers.
According to a notice in the Nov. 26 Federal Register, MCSAC will take action on Task #10-03 (.pdf file) regarding fatigue management plans for CMVs. MCSAC is charged with providing information, concepts and ideas on ways fleets can develop a practical program.
The committee also will work on Task #11-01 (.pdf file) regarding patterns of safety violations by motor carrier management. Under the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users, any part of a motor carrier’s registration can be suspended, amended or revoked if the Department of Transportation finds a motor carrier officer “engages, or has engaged, in a pattern or practice of avoiding compliance, or masking or otherwise concealing noncompliance, with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, and Hazardous Materials Regulations, while serving as an officer of any motor carrier.”
The last hour of each day will be reserved for public comment.
