Washington – The National Transportation Safety Board on March 18 announced plans to revamp the board order for its “Most Wanted” list of transportation safety improvements.
The board order is an internal guidance document that establishes procedures for the identification, development, selection and implementation of safety recommendations on the “Most Wanted” list. The current list includes 56 recommendations. The new board order would stipulate that future lists be limited to a maximum of 10 issue areas – each supported by recommendations – and that the formerly separate state and federal “Most Wanted” lists be combined into a comprehensive list. Each year, board members will select the issues for the list by a written voting process, and the updated list will be made public.
