Oklahoma City – A bill recently approved by the Oklahoma House would give administrative law judges designated to handle workers’ compensation exclusive authority over cases against counties, cities, towns and education bodies.
S.B. 1090 (.pdf file) was approved April 23 in a 77-19 vote and sent to Gov. Mary Fallin (R) to sign.
The bill is part of a larger effort to restructure the state’s workers’ comp system. The Administrative Workers’ Compensation Act (S.B. 1062) (.pdf file), which currently is awaiting final approval from the state Senate, would switch the current court-based system to an administrative system.
