Washington – Strong interest in two upcoming OSHA stakeholder meetings on crane operator certification requirements has prompted the agency to add a third.
Meetings slated for 9 a.m. to noon on April 2 and 3 are full, so OSHA on March 21 scheduled another meeting for 1:30-4:30 p.m. on April 3.
OSHA said the meetings are intended to collect information on the usefulness of certifying operators for different capacities of cranes and on the risks of allowing an operator to operate all capacities of cranes within a specific type.
Under the Cranes and Derricks in Construction Standard, crane operators must be certified by November 2014, and all accredited testing organizations must specify the “capacity and type” of cranes the operator is certified to operate.
